The longest day. The longest night. And the longest 45 minutes of my life in the last 4 years. Yup. The last period of high school. Which is taken up by a math test. *wants to curse* It should be a time for celebration! Joy! Cheer! Instead, I'm stuck slaving away at Calculus. Stupid math teacher.
On the other hand, high school is ending. Lots of excitement and lots of fear. Will anything remain the same? Will I even remain in touch with those people I care about?
We'll see.

The most heart-warming and weird yearbook entry yet? From Phil:
Dave Zhou, Dave Zhou, how do I admire thee?
Let me count the ways.
Dave Zhou can code in C.
Dave Zhou is marginally smarter than me.
Dave Zhou has a small rock hanging from his neck on a red string.
Dave Zhou's smile is an uplifting and glorious thing.
Dave Zhou wears a t-shirt most every day.
Dave Zhou appears rather stately, anyway.
Dave Zhou is a good man; I am glad to know him,
and that's why I've written this lousy poem.
To wish him luck would be a curse.
For his skill, no superstition could reverse.
Goodbye, Good Luck, and all the rest.
I'll end on this: Dave Zhou, God Bless.
- Phil Gautier
...It's the most amusing entry I have! Aside from Ruby's and Andrew's Sailor Inkies and Hannibal Panda and Nanda's and Bora's journey through memory lane. Of course, theirs took up nearly a page each. Phil's was short and sweet :P

Repeat after me. There is no more physics. There is no more physics. There is no more physics. Whooo! No more random relativity and nuclear stuff. Yeah! And our Solar Furnace worked wonderfully. We raised the temperature of the water by 15 degrees celsius. Whoo!
Now I may actually have time to do the new website layout I've been itching to do for a while. *hinthint* Though then again, a new layout also requires effort. Ugh. Maybe I'll just gradually modify things. Yes. A pixel here today. A pixel there tomorrow.
In the last the of physics, which was today, I think the class scared the teacher. While he was outside in the hall, I and Danny started using the insanely long spring he has as a jump rope for Chang. And Rob took the volt meter than measures voltage and stuck it in his ear. So the teacher comes back and what does he see? Chang jumping like mad because we're spinning the spring. And Rob poking his ear with the tip of the volt meter. "THIS is what has become of my AP students?" Eheh. Quite so.

Today I was mowing the lawn outside. And I see this patch of mysterious plants. They look like weeds. So I gleefully run them over. 5 minutes later.. "David! What have you done to the flowers?!!" ...oops. They really did look like weeds!
Montgomery mall is weird. Since there are so many victoria's secrets. Yes. Weird. People shouldn't be allowed to forcefully drag men in to those stores. *cough*carme*cough*
Ugh. I just had 4 hamburgers. *bursts open*

There's that old cliched saying. "Time flies when you're having fun." And despite being overused, it is true in many cases. Though I can't say that I've been "having fun" this last year of high school, it hasn't been bad either. And as of today, it's almost over. Last monday was the last monday of my high school career. It was met with much rejoicing. No more mondays where I can't wake up in time for the bus. No more mondays where I miss the bus and frantically call people to give me rides. And now, with the coming week, everyday is a last day. Tuesday will be my last tuesday, wednesday my last wednesday. And of course, friday. The very last friday of high school. Which coincides with the very last day of high school. There is this current weekend as well. The last weekend goes out with a bang. No mere two-day weekend is this, but a big three-day.
With the passing of days, comes the passing of times. Friday I most probably had the last sleepover of high school. And though we did things only losers would do (analyzing the last scene in the last episode of Voyager, doing random physics stuff, playing video games into the night), it was fun. And so.. Carme, there was nothing weird going on. Nothing I'm telling that is. Thpppt.
And thus ends the last Saturday of high school. Weekend number last in progress.

My mom is in Baltimore today and tomorrow. Um. So I'm going to work at random intervals. Like in half an hour.
Today in physics we finished Apollo 13. It was a good movie. Even though I wanted to see The Matrix. But we're seeing that tomorrow. Since Rob absolutely wanted to finish Apollo 13 today. We would've gone to the Whitman Festival of the Arts 7th period, but everyone was too lazy to go down stairs. Go figure.
Flora got her pictures from Prom developed. There's.. some interesting pictures of me. When did she take that one of me afterwards? *quickly burns it* Better yet. HOW did she get that picture of me? ..And I look weird during post prom.
Remember. Programming is not a contact sport.

or even leave the ring to the winner of a wet t-shirt contest. :P
yatta! the results from the drug test monday came back. and obviously (*glares*) it was negative. so now the official offer letter has been sent and accepted. Whooo! I got me a summer job. Yeah!
...And Web Programming is starting to annoy me. And people who use glitter pens on my yearbook. *stare Ken* I got glitter all over my hands! And I'm pretty sure I was eating glitter covered fries and pizza in the car today.. aaack. It'd better not be toxic. Otherwise I'm gonna haunt you ken! *rubs stray glitter off hands* yes. And leave my class ring to the winner of a fight-to-the-death! *watches keenly*

I went to the Drug test for my summer job at Lockheed-Martin today.. it was quite embarassing. The stuff they make you do. Sheesh. To top it all off.. the nurse person kept calling me 'baby'... saying I was only 18. Been a while since I've been called a baby. Oh well. All in the course of a job application. *mutter*
Christine lost her camera at prom.. so she stole some of my pictures. Luckily, I got doubles. But.. still. Where the heck is her date? Nick should fork over his pictures :P
And Carme, I do not 'mumble'! I was only doing it because I was doing math stuff at the time. And working a picture on the computer. So the phone was far away from my head.

There is one good thing to having dark eyes. Red eye doesn't affect you as much in pictures :P Which means that I can't have blazing red eyes of a demon from hell. Dang.

A night and a day at prom
The limo arrived at 6. Everyone came by 6:30. And the driver drove us around until 7, which was when our reservation was for, at Tragara's. The limo was very nice. 10 seater in which we blinded Jon with multiple flashes with cameras. Then Miranda and Andy got into a tickle/flirting match which we took many pictures of. The ceiling of the limo was the coolest part :D With stars that light up and changes colors. The people in the back had access to climate control and radio stations. They enjoyed the power much too happily. *meglomaniacs* Every time we stopped at a light, Chris would roll down the windows and shout to the car next to us, "Sir, do you have any gray poupon?" Hilarious I tell you.
Dinner was good. I ordered a Caesar Salad and a Shrimp Pasta with some cheese thingy. The Italian names of both are entirely too long to remember. Total price of dinner came out to be about $366. Split 6 ways was $61 per person. And we had lots of fun preventing the girls from paying.
"I should pay too!" "Mmhmm. So anyways, Jon, what did you think?" "Did you hear me? I wanna pay!" "Right. Andy, pass the cheese?"
'Twas amusing :) But eventually they relented and let us pay.
Dinner ended about half an hour before prom started (at 9). So the limo driver guy drove us around some more. Did I mention he was very very cool? Oh. And Andy apparently is a gentleman at heart. Miranda said she was cold. Off goes Andy's tux jacket and on goes it on Miranda. And though we snickered a bit, it was sweet.
Also on the way there, we managed to get into a group thumb war. Everyone grabbed everyone elses hand and had it out. Miranda was suprisingly good. And my knee hurts since Amy and her had their match on my knee. Andy and I resulted in a stalemate. We couldn't get each other past 3 seconds. And Jon was still being blinded by camera flashes.
Prom arrival was.. interesting to say the least. All the ladies needed to use the restroom so us 5 guys were left standing outside waiting. 5 minutes pass. Still no sign of the girls. A couple of other older ladies come out. "Don't worry guys, they're coming." We let out a deep breath as a group :P
Prom Proper was great. Lots of dancing, pictures, food (desserts) and mingling of friends. The music was pounding. The people were dancing. Ken tried to drag me and breakdance. Me whapping Ken and staying with Amy. Nick losing sight of his date everysingle time he turned around.
*Nick turns around* "Hey, look at that Christine." *turns back around* "Christine? Christine!" *searches for 10 minutes for her* "There you are!"
'Twas very funny. The official prom pictures probably came out very well. We'll see. People were commenting on my hair. Good things, mind you. But weird nonetheless. Rob said that I looked weird with my hair done, actually. Dave said he barely recognized by with the hair. ...I mean, I DO comb it sometimes! Everyone liked it though :P
Amy described the whole thing as surreal. We were dancing, the music was slowly moving, the lights were dimmed, red lights were pulsing.. it WAS surreal. But all things must end and exactly 5 hours after the start at 2 in the morning, Prom Proper was finished. It was a hell of a time.
Post prom was more fun on the purely whimsical sense. There was a moonbounce. A inflatable slide thingy. Even more food. A moonbounce. A casino room. An arcade room. A raffle place where you could win TVs. A moonbounce... it was fun. First thing I did was hop in the moon bounce and attempt to knock Danny 'Panda' over. 'Course, he had so much more mass than me that I rebounded off him and knocked Andy over. Eh. One person knocked over is as good as the next one. We stayed in there until we couldn't see straight. Afterwards, whenever we walked, there was a slight swaying motion. A step to the right here to compsensate for the rotation of the room.. a step to the left there to compsensate for the sudden influx of ground movement.. we looked like we were drunk :P
The best time of post prom, however, was the Casino room. Each person had a starting amount of $25,000. So sitting at a table with some friends, I proceeded to get $75,000. But since this wasn't real money, I lived dangerously. And lost. So I reverted back to $25,000. Broke even. But I wasn't gonna leave until I was out of money. So for the next 2 hours, my money went from $25,000 to $75,000 to $25,000 to $75,000 to $25,000 until eventually I won big and garnered $250,000. At which point it was so late in the night that I gave half of it to Christine and did a double or nothing with the remaining half. And to my chagrin, I actually won the double or nothing. So then I tried it again. And lost all my money. :P Except for one red chip. Which I still have. A souvenir of the whole thing, I suppose.
Around 5, post prom was winding down. I won random prizes from the raffle. Alex Duncan won the TV, damn him. And Ken won't a suitcase. Andy got the $25 at IHOP. Whooo. We went back to Jons house and stayed awake and talked about high school and past years and did other stuff (no, I'm not elaborating) until 10. At which point we looked more like a bunch of zombies than prom people. At which point we called it a night (day?) and went home. So around 11, I finally got home after getting all my stuff from Jon's place. And promptly collapsed unconscious on my bed.
And there's the whole thing, abridged and summarized, in a nutshell.

Prom is starting in.. 7 hours. But our dinner is starting in.. 4 hours. Which leaves me with 3 to get ready. Plenty of time!
I like the tux I got.. not that there's any noticable difference from all the other tuxes that were available :P Not unless you look close, however. There ARE small differences. Like my collar is shorter/longer than the others. I don't have a vest (can't stand those. wore them once.. never will again.) And I have a bowtie as opposed to those tuxes that have ties or collars. (can't stand ties.. in tuxes anyways. and the collars we needed to buy.) Right. Andrew has the vest. Even though it's not a 'full' "vest". It's only the front :P A facade of a vest. Like some parts of my tux :P
They do seem not to make complete sets anymore, these days. Even the shirt only had the decorations up to about 2/3 of the way down. I guess they assume people won't be any taller than that.
Anyways. Off I go.
In 3 hours that is.

Friday, which is tomorrow, is the semi-official Whitman Senior Skip Day. Whoooo.
The teachers at Whitman today played a 'joke' on the principal, Dr. Marco. They brought in two llamas. Two LIVE llamas. To the front of the school. Where everyone could see them. And pet them. And be spit upon by them. Fun for all ages!
We're watching Apollo 13 in physics. Then we're watching The Matrix. Then some other random movie where we 'critique the physics' of the film. Fuuuun.
As the year goes by, teachers, as well as students are getting snappier and more grouchy. My AP Euro teacher today snapped at multiple people. And Elizabeth said she reportedly broke down 7th period and walked out of the room. Hmm.
Many times I guess we, as students, forget the pressures that are on teachers too. Over burdened by homework, we often think of teachers as the givers of punishment. Work given to students however, is a double-edged sword.
In the AP Computer Science class, everytime I give programs or tests, only one thing is certain. I'm going to have to grade all of that. And barring forces of nature, those grades must get through. Or I would have a bunch of murderous teenagers intent on my blood after me. For every deadline a student receives, a teacher receives 3 more. So the program is due thursday. Well, I must make a rubric by at elast wednesday. Get a working version of the program by the day after I assign it, if not sooner. And start planning on the next assignment. Not to mention the actual grading that takes up huge chunks of time.
So.. yes. This is for all m'AP Computer Science out there. Remember, a teacher isn't here to punish you. He isn't here to make your life a miserable hell.
Most of them anyways. My math teacher is still an exception to the rule.

It seems to me that teachers have two personalities. One side, they show during the teaching, the other, outside of teaching. Take my math teacher for example.
During class, she is the paragon of bad teaching. Snapping at people, inconclusive answers, _wrong_ answers. Outside of teaching however, she is a surprising nice old lady. Quite funny, humorous and witty. And altogether unlike her "proffesional" persona.
Also take my physics teacher. In class, he is strict, focused and completely lacking in personality and inflection of tone. When not teaching however, he takes on a whole new likeness. He enjoys games, talks to people with the full range of human tone and inflection and even cracks a joke many times. And.. ugh.. puns. Which is where I got _my_ particular pun adage.
Oy.

There are those times in life when everything seems right. The sun shines a bit brighter. The air a bit fresher. The sugar a bit sweeter. This is not one of those times. And being midnight has nothing to do with it. This is a time, however, for a moment of completion. The completion of a movie watched, the completion of a love found, the completion of paper written, the completion of a book finished.. and above all, simply a completion of the self.
It's one of those times where things are where they belong. They may not be right, but they belong. Prom is three days away. The last day of school is 12. Graduation, a bit more. College, three months beyond that. Life, 4 years after that.
It's one of those times where everything comes together. The work in freshman and sophomore year, the countles standardized tests junior year, the hundreds of dollars spent on SATs and SAT IIs, the grueling process of college applications, the taxing anxiety of acception letters, the worry of financial aid, and the deciding of a home away from home for the next hour years. All have come together. Like an intricate web of forms, tests, desires and sweat, it has converged on one focal point. The center of the matrix of lines. The end of the high school marathon. And while I may not be first, and while I may not be last, I have finished.
And in a Marathon, that's what matters most.
The time for completion as of now however, has passed. It seems to be that not even the profound powers of sentimentality, sappiness and enlightenment can overcome that all-encompassing force that is known as...
Sleep Deprivation. 'Night all.

Ahhh! I need to cook something again for AP Euro. Heeeeeeeeeeeelp...

In AP Euro today, Elizabeth was trying hard to fall asleep. It didn't work :P ..Trying to sleep in the middle of the room with a bunch of people howling out questions and answers doesn't work. As has been proven. ..'Course now she's grouchy, I'm sure.
Sometimes, I think teachers are purposefully cruel. My math teacher is making us do work after the AP test. Bahhh. Things like that shouldn't be allowed. My AP Euro teacher is also either making us cook something or joining her at the four seasons or some such for a "tea party". I hope its the tea party. Since I can't possible cook a good european dish. Heck, I can't even microwave canned soup correctly... (as proven last time I tried)

Friday night, I went to see the Mummy Returns. The movie overall was alright. Though it stank as a "horror" movie. It was more hilarious than terrifying. But.. yeah. I think Miranda didn't like it - something about hordes of insects crawling out of someguys face :D But I did, and so did Colin and Andrew.
I know I've said this many times many places.. but May really DOES look like Garnet (Dagger, what have you) version 2. With short hair.. she looks really alike! Even more than before when she had long hair (and being compared with Garnet, v1). Ugh. That sentence wasn't very coherent. Oh well.
Prom is this friday. And I need to buy flowers. Anyone know a good place? Worse comes to worse, I'll just buy them where everyone else is buying them.

why is blogger not giving me the publish button?
Because of the AP Calculus exam, I didn't get a chance to eat lunch.. since the thing ended in the middle of second lunch. ..so instead of meeting with Elizabeth right afterwards, I went home, gorged on a huge bowl of ice cream and then went back.
So after copying from multiple people (Thank you Elizabeth, other Elizabeth, Jeff and Christine!) I'm done with my packet :P And find out that me and nick alone in a room is a lethal combination. I think Ms. Eagan wanted to kick us out for 'distracting' the others. (Elizabeth was talking too!) And I found out that she's one of 13 children. Wow.
And now.. I need to call her to make sure of some stuff. WIsh me luck! AP exams are almost done!

and bloger is messing up on me again.
the AP Calculus exam is tomorrow.. I swear all AP test takers are masochists. I can't think of any other reason why we would pay $75 to take a three hour test.
Bwaha.. I finally got Elizabeth's number today! :P Whoooo!
And.. the THV gang officially scares me :P Ganging up on me indeed.

I have sooooooooo much work in AP Euro due thursday. Jeff thinks I should have an all-out copying party. heh.. I could get Elizabeth and it can be a three-way copy-fest!.. yeah.
I'm thinking of seeing the Mummy Returns.. though Michelle says that it's a bad movie. Hmm... maybe. The trailers look cool.

Teachers should be disallowed from giving tests durings AP week. I mean, I finished my AP Lit test this morning, and was all ready to relax. Since by the time it was over, it was in the middle of 5th period. Then I remembered that I had a AP Euro test sixth. Argghhh...
So anyways, there was another AP Euro review thingy today afterschool until 7 or so. I stayed from about 3:30 til 6:30. And left feeling envious of Elizabeth since she lives right across the street. I wanna live that close! To me school I mean, not her. Though that wouldn't be too bad either. Since she's pretty cute. Ahem. Anyways, everyone's test scores improved. I actually got an 80% (which with the AP Euro curve, gives me a 5). Yeah! Poor Elizabeth.. guessed many correct and got a much higher score than last time. Whoooo! 'Course then she did the same thing I did and managed to erase all the right answers and bubble in wrong ones when she checked her answers. hah. I KNEW that was gonna happen. Told her so too. Ahem. I digress. That's enough about Elizabeth (...Webe :P) for one day.
Ilona's outta my mind more or less. Then I think that we'll be moving into a house that she's been in. That she's visited often. Then I go bang my head against the wall for a few moments and alls better. Since I'm too much in pain to think about her. Yeah. That's it.
Wah. I'm doing it again. Ok. Anyways, so yeah. Carme has finally been proven to me to be a real person :P Whooo! I now actually KNOW everyone on Trigger Happy Virii more or less. Mwahaha..

As I've said before.. it's a small small world. Today I visited the house that we're buying and moving into. It seems that the people who live there now has 2 daughters who used to go to Holy Child. They graduated 2 years ago - the same year as Ilona (who I think I've mentioned once or twice). Freaky really. After not talking to Ilona in a long long while, she suddenly pops back up in my mind. She even was in a couple pictures. Even prettier than I remember. But oh well.. that's all in the past. I'm having fun at Whitman and she's having fun at Dartmouth. And now I will attempt to get her out of my head. Ta ta.
Sometimes I think love and relationships just aren't worth the effort. I mean, sure, you do feel all special and needed for a while - but then what? You feel nervous, anxiousnes, apprehension.. sure, it's exciting, but is it needed? I guess.. but sometimes, a close friend is better than a loving gf. Like last week, I was feeling a little depressed and I guess it showed (though I _thought_ I was covering it pretty well) and a close friend sneaked up behind me and gave me a hug. And after calming down from the preemptive hug, I felt a sense of gratitude and.. well, friendly love for her that I've never felt before. I dunno. Today just isn't a day for those type of things.
Bah. It's just rereading all the AP Lit stuff for the AP test that's getting to me. It's damn depressing reading all these books about lost love, violent relationships, murder, hate, and dysfunctional families. Maybe I'll go steal some of my brother's Dr. Seuss books. Yes. That's it.

So I'm back from the party. We all went to sleep around 5am. And we all woke up around 11 or so. 'Twas very fun. Colin has a huge backyard - and a soccer field to the side of his house. So we romped around in the woods in his backyard (complete with acres of land and a creek to boot). Funfunfun. Then when it was dark, we played SSX and Soul Calibre on the PS2 and Dreamcast. As well as Unreal Tournament that we had set up on two computers for one-on-one :P Funfun!
And now I will calmly collapse from caffeine overload.

Today the Black and White (the school newspaper) had an article on me. And.. had a bad bad picture of me. It was of me teaching at the front of the room with my back turned towards the board while pointing and writing. All you can see is my back and the back of my head. I grouched to the editors a bit during lunch about that picture.. but all in all it was a good article. Though I was sorta misquoted. But that's ok. At least they spelled my name right this time - unlike earlier this year when an article spelled Zhov instead of Zhou.
Now I'm off to a birthday party. Wheee.. maybe we'll play ultimate frisbee. I _love_ that game. And Jon's bringing his PS2 so we'll have two PS2s there. Can you say linked games? *drooool* And.. playing DOA2 hardcore. yeah!
Have a good weekend all. I probably won't be online 'til either very late at night (when I'm the only one awake as usual at Colin's house) or tomorrow evening (when after a day of rest, I finally regain conscious thought).

Graduation Boxers.. *boggle* I still can't get over it.
Today was fun. I have a birthday party to go to tomorrow.. and I need to think of a gift. *sobs* I have no money left!
My math teacher says that we may not be having a senior math final. *pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease* Apparently, she heard from a teacher at Wootton (a Mr.May? Mae? Something like that.) I hope she's right. I don't wanna take my senior finals!

Today during the morning periods there was a senior meeting. And it was about post prom and graduation. Did you know that I'm able to order Walt Whitman Graduation BOXERS? *boggle* I'm actually very tempted...and our school color is blue and everything!
And.. at post prom, we're having a Moon Bounce. Yeah! *hop* I love moon bounces! And we'll have those inflatable rubber slides and everything. As well as a gambling table.
Apparently this year we're having a Prom Video, along with the Senior and Graduation videos. Hoo boy. *sweatdrop* I'm not sure I want to be taped at prom.
Now.. off to study for APs *sob* Saaave me!

I just came back from an AP Euro study session. It was supposed to go until 9pm. But I was too tired and broed to keep going - that and Elizabeth was leaving too.. and well, it really isn't that fun without her there. Right.
I have a physics test tomorrow. I just KNOW that I"ll fail. *sob* I'm not reaaady!
And.. that reminds me of some Gummy Bears *cough* I mean Pooh Bears (don't ask) that Elizabeth gave to me to eat. Mmmm. So now I'll go get more food.
